The formula encourages the ointment to remain on the surface of the eye, forming a protective layer of hyaluronic acid. This layer moisturizes and protects the eye, reduces stickiness and crusting of the eyelids on waking and reduces tear film evaporation during nocturnal lagophthalmos.
